Elvis Lives...

Brian was part of the International Beach Clean-Up Day in Pattaya. He dove with Mermaids, and collected garbage from the bottom of the ocean. Collectively, the ten boats brought in a couple tons of waste!!! I opted not to attend since water is not my thing, but he said it was a wonderful experience. He was told by other divers, that this is the event you want to take part in!!!

While Brian was fighting a crab for a bottle, I was walking around the mall :) I had a wonderful Misty day of shopping, waxing, and facials!!!

I beat Brian home by a couple minutes. He called and asked if we wanted to go to the dinner they were putting on for all the volunteers. Free food!!! SOLD. We called up teacher Emily and the three of us went to the event. It was very classy and had a wonderful buffet. We technically didn't crash the event. Brian had met two divers on the boat from Bangkok, and they gave him two seats to use. Not that it really mattered... any white person probably could have walked in - no questions asked ;)

We bought some raffle tickets to ease our conscience non the less. Brian really wanted to win the live-aboard prize... only to find out he fabricated that prize haha... The grand price was a 7 day vacation to Koh Samui!!!! He also kept talking about a underwater light he wanted.
It started to rain so we ducked for cover by the bar. We were "those" people by the bar. Needless to say, we never missed a free round :)

While Brian and Emily were arguing about my apparel and the usage of a slip, I noticed that they called Brian's number! He won the underwater light that he wanted. SCORE. It wasn't a trip to Koh Samui, but who cares... It was something :)
This particular restaurant that the event was held at is known for its Elvis impersonations. They have a show every weekend. I've seen the advertisement on TV several times and always wanted to go to it. After all the presentations and prizes where given away and the event was coming to an end, Elvis music started to play. Sure enough, an Asian Elvis was on stage. I'm sure he was Filipino :0) haha....

He was very good. I don't particularly like Elvis, but I knew some of the songs. He was more entertaining than anything... Especially his clothes.

By that time, we had joined the VIP table as we were invited by the manager of Mermaids. So many millionaires in Pattaya. I swear this would never happen in the United States. We keep our classes separate. However, in Thailand, if you are white its assumed your of high rank I suppose... You really never know who you are talking to until you end the conversation and ask someone... Then you feel really good about yourself let me tell you! Hahaha... Oh, your owner of the world... Word!

Anyway, after the Cali's were done drinking the "Money Money Money's" bottle of whiskey, we moved on to our new bar of choice a.k.a another multi millionaires place. He's very nice. He looks just like my dad but talks way more.

I just think of those years in college trying to find film investors. I should have just taken a trip to Thailand :)

Wouldn't you know another Elvis mysteriously appeared. He wasn't singing.. No no... He was a magician. He preformed for a good 20 minutes at our table because Brian was so enthralled. I won't lie... I didn't see any wires.... I don't know how napkins were levitating and things were disappearing. Appropriately, he left in a little make shift clown car made out of a motorbike.

After convincing my dad's doppelganger to put biscuits and gravy on the buffet, we vowed to return in the a.m. for his 125 Baht breakfast buffet! It was hard getting Brian up, but we made it. DELICIOUS. Best believe we stayed the entire 3 hours and gorged ourselves. We are but mere teachers... such luxuries are not daily occurrences. It's like taking ghetto children to a 5-Star restaurant. We start putting things in our purses and trying to take the neighboring tables half finished bottle of champagne. Instinctive little creatures we are with no shame ;) j/k..... sorta......

We tried to tan after the feast, but the sun hasn't been cooperating lately. Rainy season is upon us. The thunderstorms are amazing. Watching the lighting here is spectacular. On the plus side, we did find all our temple clothes for super cheap down the road. We are gearing up for our October break to backpack around Thailand for a month. The first week is a meditation retreat. Should be interesting to say the least. I will input Brian's favorite quote, "When in Rome."

One more week of school. I see the light at the end of the tunnel!!!
